Brent Upchurch


Dr. Brent Upchurch is a pediatrician by profession, practicing near Boston, Massachusetts, but his passion is collecting and studying the coinage of Constantine the Great.  He was the principal organizer of the Coins of Constantine Symposium, held in York in 2006 (www.cocs.co.uk).  He is privileged to have a staff position at the Harvard Art Museums where he works with Carmen Arnold-Biucchi on the museum's Late Roman collection.  He is currently preparing a publication on the coinage of Constantine from Rome and Ostia, 312-313 AD.  He has visited many of the major numismatic cabinets including Boston, New York, London, Oxford, Cambridge, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Ljubljana, and Zagreb.  He is a Life Member of the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild where he served as an original member of the Education and Youth Programs Task Force.  He is also a member of the Royal Numismatic Society, the Société Française de Numismatique, the American Numismatic Society, the American Numismatic Association, and a founding member of the Massachusetts Ancient Numismatic Association.
